CKSD Online Resource Privacy Information
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Central Kitsap School District (CKSD) is committed to providing your child(ren) with the best resources available to prepare them as 21st century learners. As with any educational undertaking, a strong partnership with families is essential to a successful experience. CKSD uses several cloud-based applications and services to support education in our schools. These tools include Google Apps for Education (currently available to grades K-12), Microsoft for Education (available to grades 9-12), and other web-based resources (i.e. Renaissance Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Follett, PowerSchool).
CKSD believes strongly in safeguarding our students privacy. Each of the applications and services we use also are committed to the responsible stewardship and appropriate use of student personal information and to all laws applicable to us as school service providers. They have all signed the Student Privacy Pledge. CKSD also makes the same commitment.

In order for students to use CKSD computer resources we have individual user identifications and passwords. Our external cloud-based applications and services also control access in a similar method. We create accounts for these services using certain personal identifying information (generally the student’s name and login information).
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires these external applications and services to provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13. The law permits school districts to provide consent on behalf of all of its students and eliminate the need for individual parent consent. CKSD provides this consent on the behalf of our students. A list of the possible third-party online resources that may be used in our classrooms, with links to their privacy policies can be obtained by clicking on the link below:
